IAB Render: 2016 Audi Q7 (India-Bound)
Posted on: Nov 29, 2014 - 11:59am IST
Will launch in India next year.
Audi will announce the next generation Q7 SUV at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show, replacing the age-old first gen model. It will be based on the latest MLB-Evo platform that will underpin the next gen Porsche Cayenne, Bentley SUV and the Lamborghini Urus (if confirmed).
Here, our rendering artist Shoeb Kalania presents an accurate first look of the SUV.
In the design department, the 2016 Audi Q7 will follow the latest design philosophy that influences most models in the range. It is expected to borrow design elements from the Allroad Shooting Brake Concept and the TT Offroad. Judging from the spyshots of recent test prototypes, the second generation model will be slightly lower and sport a more angular design than the outgoing car. Like the current crop of Audis, the front end will feature a six-point grille and a pair of matrix LED headlights.
According to other reports, the 2016 Audi Q7 will be powered by a range of six- and eight-cylinder petrol engines. The diesel lineup could see the new 3.0-liter V6 TDI Clean Diesel offered in three output states. Two plug-in hybrid variants are also in the making.
Thanks to the latest platform, the 2016 Audi Q7 will shed more than 300 kg, thereby helping it improve acceleration as well as fuel efficiency figures.
At the moment, the Audi Q7 is assembled in India at the company’s plant in Aurangabad. It will only be a matter of time before the plant also starts rolling out the 2016 Audi Q7.
