The new Mini will follow the BMW i8 that goes on sale in January 2015.
Mr. Philipp Von Sahr, president of BMW India, has told Economic Times that the New Mini 3-door (new gen model) and the 2015 Mini Countryman (facelift) will be launched in India following the launch of the BMW i8 hybrid supercar which is scheduled in January 2015.
2014 Mini 3-door
The 2014 Mini sports an evolutionary design but is underpinned by the BMW Group's new modular UKL front-wheel drive platform. The retro hatchback also debuts BMW's downsized 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol and diesel engines.
While the Mini 5-door which premiered at the 2014 Paris Motor Show appears to be an apt product for the Indian market, Mr. Sahr has not mentioned anything about this variant.
2015 Mini Countryman
Unveiled at the New York Auto Show earlier this year, the 2015 Mini Countryman gets revised headlamps, grille, foglights and alloy wheels on top of new exterior color options.
The cabin sees changes like a new infotainment system and chrome accents. The powertrain lineup has been tweaked to comply with Euro 6 emission norms.
BMW India assembles one petrol and two diesel variants of the Mini Countryman in India and the same strategy is expected to be followed for the facelifted version as well.
