Available with four engine options in petrol and diesel.
The 5-door 2014 Mini has made its public debut at the 2014 Paris Motor Show. Announced earlier this year, the car is already in production at the Oxfordshire plant in the U.K.
Like the normal Mini, the 5-door too is based on the front wheel drive UKL platform. However, engineers have extended the wheelbase by 72 mm, correspondingly increasing rear legroom by 72 mm. The 5-door, in comparison to the 3-door, is longer by 161 mm, taller by 11 mm and has a boot that is larger by 67 liters.
The 5-door Mini can be had with four engine options - two petrol and two diesel. The base petrol engine is a 1.5-liter three-cylinder making 136 bhp while the more powerful 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol makes 192 bhp.
The diesel range comprises the 1.5-liter three-cylinder producing 116 bhp and a 2.0-liter four-cylinder making 170 bhp. The engines can be had with 6-speed manual or automatic transmissions.
The new Mini (3-door) is expected to launch in India by the end of this year. The 5-door model could possibly follow as well.
