The Discovery Sport is powered by a 2.0-litre turbo petrol and a 2.2-litre turbo diesel, both mated either to a 6-speed MT or a 9-speed AT.

Scheduled to become operational in 2016, the Itatiaia unit will generate 400 jobs initially which will be almost doubled by the end of the decade. Further, 1,000 indirect employment opportunities will be created.

The British automaker will invest 240 million pounds (around INR 2,360 crore) in the new manufacturing unit until the end of 2020. The annual production capacity will stand at 24,000 units which will be used to cater to the Brazilian market apart from supplementing the UK facility.
