Another model on the Elite is planned for a launch soon.
A report on the Times of India states that Hyundai has received over 40,000 bookings for the Elite i20 in a short span of two months. Bookings for the Elite started on August 1, and the car was launched on August 11. Hyundai announced that it had received 15,300 bookings and 79,200 enquiries within 20 days of the launch.
Sales figures for August and September show that Hyundai delivered 6,627 and 8,903 units of the Elite respectively. These numbers are far higher than the previous i20, which used to hover around 3,500-4,000 units a month.
However, despite the sales growth, the Elite's main rival - the Maruti Swift - sold nearly double (Maruti sold 17,716 and 17,265 units in August and September respectively), and looks set to continue with the same gusto as a model change has just been introduced.
In comparison to the Swift though, the Elite is priced higher. Even with Maruti having increased prices of the updated Swift, the Elite is a good INR 50,000-70,000 more expensive than the Swift (the top-end diesel variant, in particular).

Hyundai India intends to take the Elite further upmarket price wise by introducing a crossover version of it. The Elite i20 cross has started testing on Indian roads, and will get more expensive features like LED daytime running lights, projector headlights, roof rails, body cladding and petal-shaped alloy wheels.
