Datsun South Africa has revealed the prices and specifications of its first model, the Datsun Go. The formal market launch is on October 20.
The Go for South Africa is exported from the Chennai plant in India as a fully built-up unit. South Africa is the second export market for the India-made Go after Nepal.
The Go in South Africa will be available in two trims: Mid priced at 89,500 Rand (INR 4.96 lakhs) and Lux which is priced at 99,500 Rand (INR 5.52 lakhs). Sales of the Go will start at 44 dealerships across the country, and this will increase to 60 by end of this fiscal. Datsun dealerships will exist within the Nissan dealer framework with a mix of dedicated and common showroom configurations.
The hatchback is powered by the 1.2-liter three-cylinder petrol engine which is capable of 67 bhp at 5,000 rpm and 104 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. 0-100 km/h takes 13.5 seconds, and an average fuel efficiency of 20 km/l can be expected. A 5-speed manual transmission drives the front wheels.

The Go is equipped with power steering, a mobile docking system, front speakers, front power windows and follow-me-home headlights. A 3-year/100,000 km warranty comes standard.
