To be launched anytime from now.
Features of the Proton Iriz hatchback, initially known by its codename Proton P2-30A, are being teased gradually via a dedicated microsite. The first global model from Proton is set to make its debut in the coming weeks.
The recent teaser images show the engine bay and the black leather interior upholstery with white contrast stitching. The engine cover has a VVT badge, confirming that the hatchback is benefited from Variable Valve Technology. However, the Malaysian automaker has stopped short of revealing the displacement or outputs.
Media reports suggest that the Proton Iriz will offer a choice of two VVT petrol engines displacing 1.3- and 1.6-litre. Manual and automatic transmissions are in the offing.
Since it's a global hatchback, Proton has packed it with safety features such as 6 airbags, ABS, EBD, BA, ESP, TCS, HHA, etc. The Iriz, whose development reportedly cost RM 300 million, will be positioned to take on the likes of VW Up!, Hyundai i10 (Grand i10 in India) and Perodua Myvi.
