Spied – New Maruti Alto K10 (facelift) fully revealed, gets AMT

Posted on: Sep 20, 2014 - 11:36am IST

Will be the most affordable automatic car in the country when launched.

Here are the first images fully revealing the new Maruti Alto K10, which will go on sale in the coming months.

New Maruti Alto K10 facelift revealed headlight
With new headlights, bumpers and a chrome grille, the new K10 differentiates itself clearly from the Alto 800.

Based on the Alto 800’s body shell, the new K10 gets redesigned headlights, a thin chrome grille, new bumpers and taillights seemingly inspired by the Celerio. This will be the first update for the more powerful Alto since its launch in 2010.

Under the hood, the Alto K10 will continue using the 1.0-liter three-cylinder K-Series petrol engine, which on the current model produces 68 PS (67.04 bhp) at 6,200 rpm and 90 Nm of torque at 3,500 rpm.

Currently, the car is available solely with a 5-speed manual transmission. With the launch of the new K10, Maruti will offer an automated manual transmission (AMT) alongside the manual, as the bootlid of one of the cars reveals the ‘Auto Gear Shift’ logo.

The K10 would be the second product from Maruti to use the AMT system. When it goes on sale, it will be the most affordable automatic car in the country, slotting below the Celerio AMT (if the Tata Nano Twist F-Tronic isn’t available by then).

Competitors: Hyundai Eon 1.0L, Datsun Go

Expected Price: INR 3.2 – 4 lakhs, ex-Showroom

Launch date: Coming months

All those 20,000 people buying Alto every month should start looking beyond Maruti brand name. There are better options like Eon, Nissan Micra Active & Datsun Go for the same price. It’s high time now bcz competitors have brought far better products & quality of maruti cars is at steady decline.

    1. Arun says:

Its the trouble free ownership experience that keeps customer away from so called “better options like Eon, Nissan Micra Active & Datsun Go”.

Current Alto K10 is far good-looking than this. Maruti-Suzuki wants to share components between Alto 800 and New Alto K10 so that their profitability increases. End customer is the biggest loser. I hate Maruti-Suzuki.

what’s wrong with suzuki .. why are they making such ****ty cars !!

  4. anonymous says:

It looks like a combination of WTF and FML (M=Maruti)!!!! 😀

  5. Anis says:

The current ALTO K10 Exterior looks way better than the new one. Really dont know what to say…

  6. Che10 says:

Like the Hyundai EON which has 814 and 998 cc engines, Maruti has an advantage of launching the same body with 800cc and the upcoming alto with 1000 cc engine , if launched k series 800 cc auto gearshift with AMT ,then alto 800 cc AMT will be the cheapest automatic available if launched.

    1. Joy says:

Maruti’s 800cc engine is not K series one. It is the dated MPFI engine. They have already matched K10 engine to AMT in Celerio. So there is no new R&D required for them. Cheap tricks.

      1. Che10 says:

HI i do know that the alto 800 is dated MPFI engine, but due to the new emission norms in future, they need to upgrade the engine, so they can make k series 800 cc engine, or they need to stop producing the 800 cc engine and stick to 1000 cc k series engine, if in case new k series 800 cc engine is produced, it can be shared to omni as well. Iam talking about probability, just shared my feedback.

  7. AN, Delhi says:

UGLY, that is the only word that comes to mind. The Maruti design team should be lined up and shot. They took a well designed car and turned it into a cartoon on wheels. YUCK!!!

    1. Gaurav says:

True. They could not have made it uglier. Sad part is, Indians will buy anything maruti dishes out. :-/
