Mahindra is keen to tap into the existing customer base of the Scorpio, which stands at 4.5 lakh customers at the moment. The company expects a percentage of existing owners to upgrade to the new Scorpio given the extent to which the SUV has been upgraded. Reports say that the ladder-frame chassis of the new Scorpio uses a hydroformed manufacturing technique thus making the car stiffer yet a bit lighter.

An upgraded 5-speed manual gearbox paired to the existing 2.2-liter four-cylinder diesel engine will be offered in the new Scorpio. Cosmetic upgrades will come in the form of new headlights with projector beams, a new grille, LED taillights and redesigned alloy wheels.

They have discontinued the automatic version. So now, there is no Automatic transmission equipped Mahindra vehicle.
Until the new XUV5OO is launched next year, that is.

Manufacturers are really carrying things too far. No one knows how the vehicle looks like, and they are already taking bookings. Its not as if the market is starved of vehicles.
