New Scorpio to get a hydroformed ladder-frame chassis.
From today, dealerships of Mahindra across the country will start accepting bookings for the new Mahindra Scorpio, Indian Autos Blog has learned from reliable sources. Existing Scorpio customers can pre-book the new model between September 15 - 17, while regular pre-launch bookings for other customers start from September 18.
Mahindra is keen to tap into the existing customer base of the Scorpio, which stands at 4.5 lakh customers at the moment. The company expects a percentage of existing owners to upgrade to the new Scorpio given the extent to which the SUV has been upgraded. Reports say that the ladder-frame chassis of the new Scorpio uses a hydroformed manufacturing technique thus making the car stiffer yet a bit lighter.
An upgraded 5-speed manual gearbox paired to the existing 2.2-liter four-cylinder diesel engine will be offered in the new Scorpio. Cosmetic upgrades will come in the form of new headlights with projector beams, a new grille, LED taillights and redesigned alloy wheels.
Inside, Mahindra will offer an all-new dashboard with redesigned instruments, a new steering wheel, a touchscreen infotainment system and new seat fabrics.
