Will source power from new three-cylinder petrol and diesel engines.
The Mahindra S101 was recently spotted testing by Facebook user Mathews Naveen. As mentioned earlier, the S101 (codename) is expected to be Mahindra's all-new entry-level offering, and would launch sometime next year.
The S101 will have compact dimensions (sub-4 meter length), and sources inform Indian Autos Blog that the car will be similar to a Swift (or any B+ hatchback) in terms of footprint. However, the seating position of the S101 will give the driver a feel of driving a crossover. As seen in the image below, the window line and positioning of the steering wheel and instrument cluster are a bit higher than a hatchback (the photograph is taken by a co-driver of a Chevrolet Spark).
Clever packaging of the interior could also result in the S101 offering a 3+3 seating layout, as previous spyshots have shown a dashboard-mounted gearlever. Also, expect the top-end variant of the car to have features such as ABS, dual airbags, steering mounted audio controls, a 2-DIN music system, and alloy wheels.
Before the S101's launch, Mahindra will introduce the Scorpio facelift this festive season
Based on an all-new monocoque platform, the car will be motored by new three-cylinder petrol and diesel engines.
