The Mahindra G101 is the first 110 cc scooter from the company.
This festive season, the Indian auto industry is full of 'zest'. Last week, the Tata Zest started proceedings, the TVS Scooty Zest has been launched today and a latest report by Bikewale.com suggests that the Mahindra G101 scooter could be named as the Mahindra Zesto.
The Mahindra Zesto keeps alive the company's naming tradition of ending with the letter 'o'. The recent spyshots fully reveal the latest entrant of the fast growing automatic scooter segment. Currently at 27 percent of the overall Indian two-wheeler market, scooters could in the coming years make up 30 percent.
The scooter sports some unique styling elements such as a 'V' shaped headlamp, air-intakes on either side of the front fender, louvres on the apron and a quadrilateral rear combination light with a glossy black centre piece carrying the badge.
The instrument panel, which includes a speedometer, odometer, fuel gauge and telltale lights, is finished in silver. With a wide seat (could also result in good under seat storage capacity) and a big grab rail, the Zesto appears to be a comfortable urban commuter.

Powertrain details are not available yet but expect the 110 cc motor to be borrowed from the Centuro. Mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT), the power and torque outputs should match its commuter sibling's figures of 8.5 PS (8.8 bhp) and 8.5 Nm respectively. The fuel economy is expected to be in the ballpark of 60 km/l.
