About 40 percent of the production has been exported.
The made-in-India Ford EcoSport has surpassed the 1 lakh sales milestone (domestic wholesales and exports combined).
The mini SUV was launched in India on June 26, 2013 and due to production constraints the waiting period for some variants exceeded 9 months (a dealership that IAB contacted late last year asked 12 months for an EcoSport AT to be delivered).
Ford said in a release today that it has worked closely with suppliers to increase productivity, resulting in lesser waiting period for most variants.
Manufactured at Ford India's Chennai plant, the EcoSport is exported to Nepal, South Africa, Taiwan, Australia and several European countries.
Speaking about the production of the EcoSport, Mr. Vinay Piparsania, executive director for Marketing, Sales and Service, Ford India, said:
With improved availability, we are also planning to introduce a third shift at our Chennai plant to ensure that the Ford EcoSport is available across our showrooms, ahead of the upcoming festive season.
