Ford has played a clever trick here. They’ve kept the base variant prices at realistic levels to show aggressive pricing upfront to the customers and garner attention. Then they increase the base variant pricing by a mammoth 1 lac rupees for the subsequent variants !!!

They should have kept the price difference between variants at 35-50,000 rupees, which is the industry benchmark. This is turning out to be too expensive even when considering entry level sedans with better space and boot.

My personal take -for a psuedo SUV, which is the size of a hatchback, this is way too expensive and not Value for money.

For those who want to go for SUV.. rather than putting your money on this just go for full fledged SUV like TATA Safari or Mahindra Scorpio…

This will garner just the initial response but the bubble will burst in a month or two..

Please compare the features that you are getting more in the higher variants ie., Ambiente vs Trend and I think the price diff is justified as the base variant is too basic. And the kind of features being offerred on the Trend and Titanium are far superior to any of the premium hatchbacks, compact sedans/suvs that are on offer in this price bracked today. ES pricing is spot-on and bang where it should be. Its definitely a better buy (say titanium diesel @ ~10.5 on road) if you are looking for a butch SUV with such stunning looks and technology loaded. And please, this is an “URBAN” SUV; why are we comparing it with a Scorpio or Safari???

Just doing a feature comparison between Ambient (the base version) and Trend (the second variant).

Compared to Ambient, the additional features which Trend carries are ABS, rear power windows, steering-mounted audio controls and driver-seat height adjust. All the 4 additional features put together wouldn’t cost you more than 40-50,00 rupees. But the actual price difference between Ambiente and Trend is 1 lac rupees, which is strange. This is precisely where the pricing is over the top and clever.

The comparison with Safari or Scorpio might be on the premises that at the price of an Ecosport, you can actually buy a true SUV.

    Killer pricing by Ford 🙂
I wish they dont collapse this by keeping huge price differences across variants, like how Renault did for Duster (horrible gaps of pricing).

I saw the vehicle on road yesteday. Though size-wise, it is not as big as Duster (maybe illusion, as I didnt see it going next to duster), with this pricing they can beat any SUV hands down.
