The BMW X4 has started arriving at dealerships in Europe. The images seen here show the X4 with the optional M bodykit at a French dealership's stockyard.
The X4 had its global premiere at the New York Auto Show this year. Based on the X3, the X4 with its couple-like roofline is positioned between the X5 and X3. The SUV measures 4,671 mm in length, 1,624 mm in height, 2,089 mm in width and 2,810 mm in wheelbase.
Power for the X4 comes from four- and six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines, similar to the X3. The lineup starts with the 2.0-liter 190 hp four-cylinder diesel and extends to the 3.0-liter 313 hp six-cylinder diesel engine. All variants feature an 8-speed automatic transmission sending power to all wheels using BMW's xDrive system.
BMW started making the X4 in late March at its American plant located in Spartanburg, South Carolina, which is the only plant at the moment to make the SUV.
BMW India have made no announcement on the X4's launch, though we expect the company to be studying the market for it. The X4 rivals the Range Rover Evoque and Porsche Macan, and the latter will launch in India this month.
Competitors: Range Rover Evoque, Porsche Macan
Expected Price: INR 50-60 lakhs, ex-Showroom
