Yamaha hosted a track test drive of the newly-launched YZF-R25 and the MT-07 recently. The track day was organized in Japan and was attended by Yamaha enthusiasts and prospective buyers.

The R25 has not gone on sale in Japan yet. Indonesia is the first and only market to sell the motorcycle, and even there, customer deliveries are yet to begin. The company has received overwhelming response, with online bookings tallying to 2,800 units within 25 hours of the launch.

Priced at 53 million Indonesian Rupiah (INR 2.7 lakhs), the R25 is powered by a newly-developed, parallel-twin, 250 cc engine. This 8-valve DOHC fuel-injected unit is capable of producing 36 PS at 12,000 rpm and 22.1 Nm of torque at 10,000 rpm and uses a 6-speed gearbox.

Braking power for the bike comes from a 298 mm dual-piston floating disc at the front and a single piston 220 mm disc at the rear. The R25 measures 2,090 mm in length, 720 mm in width and 1,135 mm in height with a ground clearance of 160 mm. The fuel tank has a capacity of 14.3 liters, while the bike weighs in at 166 kg.

Yamaha could launch the R25 in the Indian market in the next 18 months.
