The Yamaha R25 went on sale in Indonesia, its launch market, on May 20. Interested customers were allowed to make an online booking for the motorcycle within 25 hours of the launch. Yamaha have now announced that within that period, over 2,800 bookings were received, and that future buyers can book their R25 only from authorized dealers.
Yamaha announced at the launch that it was targeting to sell only 12,000 units of the R25 in its first year. Doing the math, it may seem that the R25 is sold out for nearly three months currently.
The YZF-R25 is priced at 53 million Rupiah (INR 2.7 lakhs) and comes with a newly developed 250 cc engine. The 8-valve DOHC, fuel-injected, parallel-twin engine produces 36 PS at 12,000 rpm and 22.1 Nm of torque at 10,000 rpm, and comes paired to a 6-speed gearbox.
The bike features 298 mm dual-piston floating disc at the front and a single piston 220 mm disc at the rear. It has a ground clearance of 160 mm and weighs 166 kg. Dimensions wise, the R25 measures 2,090 mm in length, 720 mm in width and 1,135 mm in height. The fuel tank has a capacity of 14.3 liters.
Expect to see the R25 launch in India within the next 18 months.
