The Skoda Yeti facelift which made its Indian debut at Auto Expo 2014 has been spotted testing by Autocar India reader Madhav Jewalikar.
Skoda introduced the updated version at last year's Frankfurt Motor Show in two variants - City and Outdoor. The vehicle spotted in India is the same Outdoor version as the Expo show car which adorns additional body cladding compared to the City variant.
The front fascia of the facelift is in line with the new brand identity. The chrome-lined grille with more accentuated edges, revised headlamps and a new front bumper lend a sharper appearance but the old Yeti's characteristic circular foglight has been erased.
The profile remains the same except for the new alloy wheel designs while a revised tailgate with new LED combination lights sum up the exterior changes. Inside, the steering wheel and color theme are new but the rest of the cabin has been retained.
The updated Yeti is expected to have an untouched powertrain lineup. The Indian version would come with the familiar 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine in two states of tune. The 108 hp version is available in front wheel drive configuration while the top end 138 hp version will employ all wheel drive system. Both motors are mated only to a manual transmission.
The new Yeti packs in additional equipment like keyless entry and go, powered driver seat, reverse parking camera and cruise control.
The Yeti facelift is expected to be launched by end of October and would continue to occupy its niche position (in the INR 15-20 lakh segment) with no directly comparable rival.
