A mildly updated Renault Samsung SM3 Neo was shown at the Busan Motor Show last week. The SM3, which is nothing but the Renault Fluence, was reportedly facing declining sales in Korea which prompted the company to introduce an update.
On the outside, minor changes have been carried out to the bumper grille (which is now chrome plated), design of the alloy wheels and profiling of the taillights. Under the hood, Samsung have announced that the SM3 will be sold only with a 1.6-liter petrol engine.
The engine is good for 117 PS at 6,000 rpm and 16.1 kgm of torque at 4,000 rpm. It will be offered only with a CVT gearbox, and has a claimed economy of 15 km/l. All variants come with ABS, EBD, driver and passenger airbags, side and curtain airbags and a radio/MP3 player with Bluetooth support.
A total of five variants are offered with prices ranging from 15.75 million to 19.95 million Won (INR 9.12 lakhs to INR 11.55 lakhs).
In India, Renault launched the facelifted Fluence in February this year. With the facelift, the petrol Fluence was discontinued owing to lack of demand.
