The Honda Mobilio which launches in India in late July will "mark the evolution of the entry MPV segment", Jnaneswar Sen, Senior Vice President for Marketing and Sales, Honda Cars India claims.
Sen said that the Mobilio will be "good value for money", and that a large proportion of sales will come from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.
Honda will make the MPV at its Greater Noida plant, where localization levels are expected to reach 90 percent. About 45,000 units of the Mobilio will be made in its first year. While the immediate focus is on its domestic market, Honda could export the Mobilio to Nepal and South Africa.
The Mobilio launches next month with a petrol and a diesel engine. Both units are expected to be borrowed from the new Honda City which was launched earlier this year. The exact power and torque outptus, and gearbox options, will be announced soon.
Bookings for the Mobilio will officially commence in the early part of next month. In the meantime, Honda are showcasing the car at populated shopping malls across the country.
