Yamaha Indonesia launched the Yamaha YZF-R25 sportsbike today, divulging plans to sell it in ASEAN and global markets.

The motorcycle was presented as a concept at the Tokyo Motor Show last year and visited India for the Auto Expo. The 250 cc motorcycle would be positioned between the R15 and R6, and has very strong prospects of launching here in the next 12-18 months.

The YZF-R25 is powered by a parallel twin 250 cc engine matched to a 6-speed gearbox.

In Indonesia, it is priced at 53 million rupiah (INR 2.7 lakh) with a local sales target of 12,000 units.

The styling is inspired by the YZR-M1, bearing a sporty headlamp with a central air duct, LED rear lights and a multi-fold wraparound fairing.

The R25 is powered by a 8-valve DOHC fuel-injected 250cc parallel twin engine that develops 36PS @ 12,000 RPM and 22.1 Nm @ 10,000 RPM paired to a 6-speed gearbox.

Very disappointed with the design (looks). I hope this type of design does not come to India…..R15 v2 is far more better than this in design.
Yamaha always rocks and really really hope they don’t make fool of themselves by launching such type of design in India and hope they price it appropriately.

  2. Karikor says:

I hope Yamaha considers the R3, 300cc 42bhp over this R25 for India.

  3. Amit Singh says:

Hello , i have pulsar 200NS , running now on MOTUL 7100 20w50 fully synthetic. But iam worried because it shows foam when seen through oil inspection window when engine is running.

  4. Yuva says:

35.5 bhp from a 250cc twin, now that is called performance engineering. Kudos to Yamaha.

    1. Anton says:

Agreed.. Note the weight of this bike only 166Kg..

    2. Dr. Nayak says:

At what MPG? This is not going to be a fuel sipper but rather a guzzler.
