Yamaha Indonesia launched the Yamaha YZF-R25 sportsbike today, divulging plans to sell it in ASEAN and global markets.
The motorcycle was presented as a concept at the Tokyo Motor Show last year and visited India for the Auto Expo. The 250 cc motorcycle would be positioned between the R15 and R6, and has very strong prospects of launching here in the next 12-18 months.
In Indonesia, it is priced at 53 million rupiah (INR 2.7 lakh) with a local sales target of 12,000 units.
The styling is inspired by the YZR-M1, bearing a sporty headlamp with a central air duct, LED rear lights and a multi-fold wraparound fairing.
The R25 is powered by a 8-valve DOHC fuel-injected 250cc parallel twin engine that develops 36PS @ 12,000 RPM and 22.1 Nm @ 10,000 RPM paired to a 6-speed gearbox.
Staying with the technical specs, the motorcycle has a ground clearance of 160 mm, seat height of 780 mm, wheelbase of 1,380 mm, weight of 166 kg and a tank capacity of 14.3 liters. It measures 2,090 mm X 720 mm X 1,135 mm (L X W X H).
The front suspension is a telescopic fork with a diameter of 41 mm, and the rear suspension is a monocross setup. Stopping power is provided by a 298mm dual piston floating disc at the front and a single piston 220 mm disc at the rear.
