Mercedes-Benz launched the ML 63 AMG earlier this week, continuing its product offensive of offering AMG models, priced at Rs 1.49 crore (ex-showroom, New Delhi.)
The ML 63 AMG is the third AMG product launched by the company in India in the last 6 months, following the launch of the SLK 55 AMG and the GL 63 AMG just last month.
The ML 63 AMG is powered by a 5.5-liter bi-turbo V8 engine making 550 hp between 5,250 and 5,750 rpm and 760 Nm of peak torque between 2,000 and 5,000 rpm. The performance-oriented SUV uses a 7G TRONIC automatic transmission, sending power to all four-wheels. The SUV can hit 100 kph from standstill in 4.7 seconds, onward to a top-speed of an electronically-limited 250 kph.
Mario Spitzner, director of branding and marketing for Mercedes-AMG, said that the AMG portfolio has seen tremendous success and that he believed that India is ready for a "performance-oriented driving experience."
It was earlier reported that AMG had seen record sales in 2013, meeting a 30,000 per annum target that it had set for itself for 2017 in 2013 itself by selling 32,200 units. Sales of AMG-branded vehicles took off after the launch of the A 45 AMG, GLA 45 AMG and the CLA 45 AMG - none of which are available in India.
