Honda Cars India said an email to Indian Autos Blog this week that the Honda Mobilio will be launched in India in the next couple of months, putting the date in July.
Pictures published on enthusiast forums reveal that trial production started a few weeks ago at the Greater Noida facility. The Brio-based MPV was showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo. It was shown in Indonesia for the first time in September last year, and is on sale in the archipelago for three months, with over 25,000 examples already on the roads.
It is a given that the Mobilio will launch in petrol and diesel variants. The diesel engine would be the same 1.5-liter i-DTEC mill that is powering the Amaze and City, which imaginably should return the best fuel efficiency for an MPV in India, as it has done for the other two cars.
Top-end variants of the MPV will get dual front airbags, ABS, alloy wheels, steering-mounted controls, rear wash/wipe and defogger as standard.
Honda said at the Auto Expo that the Mobilio will appeal to MPV customers and buyers of sedans and SUVs.
