Report – Chevrolet Adra mini SUV to launch NOT before 2017

Posted on: Apr 8, 2014 - 12:58pm IST

The Chevrolet Adra mini SUV concept showcased at the Auto Expo in February will not have its market launch before 2017, according to GM executive vice-president, Stefan Jacoby. From now until then, GM India will be focussing instead on sprucing up its current products like the Chevrolet Sail U-VA, Sail, Cruze and Enjoy.

The Chevrolet Adra will not enter production before 2017.

The Adra was announced by GM India as a concept that was “developed entirely by Indian designers at GM Technical Center in Bangalore”. On investigation, we learn that the Adra concept was designed with inputs coming from GM’s Australian design center.

The Australian media report that the Adra concept was a collaboration between GM’s Australian and Indian design operations, and that the show car was constructed in Melbourne, Australia.

The Adra concept measured under 4 meters in length sporting peeled back headlights, a twin grille layout and decent ground clearance. When it enters production, the Adra will rival the Ford EcoSport.

While GM had no comment on the platform or engine options, the Adra will have to use petrol engines smaller than 1.2-liters while the diesel motor will have to displace below 1.5-liters to avail small car tax benefits.

Why this peoples are making blunders every time!see the ford and Honda, before they introducing eco sport, amaze and new city, there sale was very low in India…but now! There sale is jumping in the market… But gm, they are introduced every time waste and updated cars….if they are going like this way on the market, definitely they will be the real follower of Mitsubishi and Hindustan motors…A WASTE COMPANY WITH WASTE DECISIONS….

When will GM launch Adra? Is it after the SUV market is saturated with Ecosport, Duster etc….. This is not the way for GM for winning Indian Customers. Instead of bringing SAIL, SAIL UVA and ENJOY, they should have brought in totally new offerings. Adra was the way and GM have certainly have slipped themselves!

I have been waiting for a 5-Seater SUV from GM since I wanted to upgrade my spark. First it was news about Chevrolet Trax making into Indian Market, then there was denial and Adra came up in the Auto Expo. Thought I can wait for an year maximum.

    Now lost the interest.

    Need to change my brand

GM is adamant to destroy itself….Best Of Luck to GM.If GM wants to launch Adra around 2017 they should have showcased the concept at the 2016 Auto Expo itself. That’s why they say “Common Sense Is Not Common” .RIP GM!!…
