Tata Motors today unveiled the Tata Zest compact sedan at the Geneva Motor Show. The Zest is powered by a 1.2-liter turbocharged petrol engine and a 1.3-liter diesel engine, and will be launched later this year.
The 1.2-liter turbocharged petrol engine is Tata's own four-cylinder Revotron that makes 85 PS @ 5,000 rpm and 140 Nm of torque between 1,750-3,000 rpm. The diesel engine will be the 1.3-liter Quadrajet motor, sourced from Fiat, outputting 90 PS @ 4,000 rpm and 200 Nm of torque between 1,750-3,000 rpm.
The Zest was designed by Tata Motors design studios in Pune, Coventry, UK and Turin, Italy, under the leadership of Mr. Pratap Bose. The car measure measures 3,995 mm in length, 1,695 mm in width and 1,570 mm in height. The vehicle weights 1,106 kg and comes with a 44 liter fuel tank.
On the inside, the Zest gets a 5-inch touchscreen display offering various functions such as Bluetooth, smartphone integration, supporting phone enabled navigation, social media integration, touch phone controlled interface and in-built HVAC controls.
As for gearboxes, the petrol-powered Zest will get a 5-speed manual and the diesel gets a new F-Tronic 5-speed Automated Manual Transmission.
