Every other week we report about Tata Motors working on a sub-4m sedan on the Vista platform to compete with the Swift Dzire and Honda Amaze. Until today, we didn't know what the design would look like.
Thanks to ZigWheels, we have our first look today at the Tata Falcon 5 (codename).
Tata Motors was the first company to tap into the potential of the sub-4m sedan segment with the Indigo CS and this started at the 2008 Auto Expo. However sales have been falling, facelifts, feature add-ons and rebranding notwithstanding.
The Tata Falcon 5 is thought up (on a budget) to reverse fortunes, featuring the same wheelbase as the Vista, but that's where the similarities end. The exterior is completely new with redesigned body panels, and the most significant change comes at the rear where the boot lid is smaller styled with different taillights.
The new taillights cut into the fenders to form a C-Shape and the new grille, which is also likely to find a place on the Falcon 4 hatchback, takes its place above the redesigned lower intake. The ORVM is different, quite similar to the VW Vento's. Likewise, the alloy wheels and the door handles are new.
From what we gather, the seats are retained from the Vista.
Zigwheels reports that the car will get a 5-speed manual and 15-inch wheels on the top-spec variant. An in-built touchscreen infotainment system (as seen on the Vista Tech), auto climate control and bluetooth telephony are some other options claimed to be present on the Amaze rival.
