The body shell of Hyundai's Ford EcoSport rival, the ix25, has been spied in China. The Hyundai ix25, Autohome says, will make its global debut at the Beijing Auto Show in April this year.
After numerous spyshots of the ix25 compact SUV being tested both in Korea and in China, Autohome brings us a clear image of the compact crossover's proportions. The styling cues at the rear look very familiar, especially the taillight portion, to the current i20 that's being sold in India. Also seen is a flat roofline and a beltline sweeping upward.
The ix25 will be manufactured in China by Beijing Hyundai Motor Co, a joint venture partnership between China's Beijing Automotive Group and Hyundai. The compact SUV will be pitted against the Ford EcoSport and the VW Taigun in China.
The ix25 is built on the same platform as the next-generation i20 which debuts at the Paris Motor Show this year. However, reports sound confident that the ix25 will come sooner than the hatchback.
