Hyundai's upcoming compact SUV, the ix25, has been spied multiple times. The ix25 is likely to make its debut at the upcoming Beijing Auto Show in April. It is built on the platform that will underpin the next-generation i20, which is scheduled to make its debut at the Paris Motor Show in September this year.
As soon as a body shell spyshot was seen, our designer Shoeb put on his creative hat and whipped out this rendering which gives character to the ix25.
The Hyundai ix25 draws design influences from the company's Curb concept that made its debut at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show. The Curb concept came in the early days of Hyundai's fluidic design concept era. It had boomerang headlights that were never seen before and huge creases on the front doors.
The possible EcoSport rival was spotted with its interiors showing rear aircon vents and ample legroom, thanks to a wheelbase which would be in the whereabouts of 2,570 mm. The ix25 is believed to slot in below the ix35 or the Hyundai Tucson.
What remains to be seen is whether Hyundai would optimize the length of the car to below 4 meters (sub-4 meter cars in India enjoy tax cuts) like what Ford did with the EcoSport.
