Hero Motocorp has announced a record sales performance in 2013. The world's largest two-wheeler manufacturer sold 61,83,784 units in the Jan-Dec 2013 period, which beats the previous year's sales of 61,20,259 units.
Sales in December 2013 took a hit however, with the company selling only 5,24,990 units as compared to 5,41,615 units sold in December 2012.
Of the 6.18 million units sold last year, 1.2 million units were sold between October and November 2013. While the festive season did not bring much cheer to the car makers, Hero managed to sell 6.25 lakh units in October 2013 thus becoming the first-ever manufacturer to cross the 6 lakh unit/month sales figure in India.
2013 also saw Hero Motocorp enter new markets such as Central & Latin America and Africa, and 2014 will see the company enter further such markets.
This year will also see Hero go into a product launching blitzkrieg. In October last year, Hero had showcased 14 of its new products which would eventually make their way into the market this year. These include refreshes for the Glamour, Passion Pro, Xtreme, HF-Dawn, HF-Deluxe, Splendor and Karizma models.
