Kawasaki India launched two of their new products yesterday in Pune, Maharashtra. The 2014 Z1000 and the new Ninja 1000 were launched, and both motorcycles have their ex-Showroom Pune price at INR 12.5 lakhs.
On the sidelines of the launch, Kawasaki officials revealed that the company would launch another product in India next month. While further details were not disclosed, we are inclined to think that the bike is the new Z800. In fact, Kawasaki's exclusive showroom at Pune has had the new Z800 on display since the middle of last month.
The Z800 would be a great addition to the current lineup, slotting just below the recently launched Z1000. The smaller sibling gets its power from a liquid-cooled, four-stroke, in-line four cylinder, 806 cc engine, capable of delivering 113 PS at 10,200 rpm and 83 Nm of torque at 8,000 rpm. Transmission duties are taken care of by a 6-speed gearbox.
Stopping power is provided by four-piston, dual semi-floating, 310 mm, petal discs at the front, and a single, 250 mm, petal disc (single-piston) at the rear. With ABS, the Z800 weighs 231 kg, and without the safety system, weight drops by 2 kg.
No doubt, the Z800 will be priced below the INR 12.5 lakhs asking price of the Z1000. But the question is, by how much? Stay tuned to Indian Autos Blog for further updates.
