The next generation 2014 Honda City will have its world premiere on November 25th in India. Honda Cars India have just issued an invite for the "The global unveiling of an iconic model which has redefined automotive design and technology". The company is very tight-lipped on the car, and as is the case with Honda, not a single spyshot has emerged!
Honda tries to conduct most of their tests within their facilities, seldom getting their prototypes on public roads. However, for homologation purposes, Honda had to send the new City to the ARAI, which is when our source informed us about the car's arrival.
Details about the City are unknown. It could be based on the 2014 Honda Jazz/Fit which recently went on sale in Japan, and which is also expected to go on sale in India next year.
We should also be seeing Honda's EXCITING H DESIGN!!! influence the looks of the new City. While Honda didn't detail much about this new design language, cars sporting this design would have a "Solid Wing Face" and the three exclamation marks symbolize High Technology, High Touch and High Tension.
Engine wise, the new City will, for the first time ever, get a diesel engine option. The diesel engine for the City would be the 1.5-liter EarthDreams diesel unit powering the Amaze, though it could be retuned to account for the additional weight. The petrol City would continue with the 1.5-liter i-VTEC engine which produces 118 PS.
Stay tuned to Indian Autos Blog for further updates on the new City.
