The Honda Brio MPV is something we have been talking about for quite sometime.

P.T Honda Prospect Motor of Honda Indonesia released the official sketch just hours ago. Honda inform us that this MPV has been specifically designed for the Asian markets. It was handled by the Honda R&D Asia Pacific team in Thailand along with P.T Honda R&D Indonesia.

Honda Brio MPV India-bound

The three-row, 7 seater will first be introduced in Indonesia’s MPV friendly market. It will compete with the likes of the Maruti Ertiga (sold there as the Suzuki Ertiga). For Indonesia, the MPV will be powered by a 1.5-liter petrol engine, which Honda claims will be highly fuel efficient. For India though, expect a petrol in addition to an Earth Dreams Honda diesel engine.

Tomoki Uchida, President Director of P.T. Honda Prospect Motor said –

The new Honda MPV has been developed especially for the needs of customers and road characteristics in Indonesia. This model will also be locally produced in Indonesia as the first product of its new Second Plant in Karawang, scheduled to begin operation in early 2014. This makes the new Honda MPV a very special product for Honda in Indonesia.

The MPV will have its global debut at the Indonesian International Motor Show which is taking place from September 19 in Jakarta. We were told by Honda officials that the MPV will trail the all new Jazz into India, sometime in 2014. Honda India may also show the MPV at the 2014 Auto Expo scheduled for in February.

I thought I was looking at the sketch of Honda’s upcoming mini SUV !!

Well, if this is the official sketch, well done Honda yet again. The stance is more of a compact SUV than that of an MPV. Yes, it has shades of Brio, Jazz and the CRV.

Make no mistake, this is going to be best looking MPV on Indian roads. And the packaging (space, engine, mileage, boot, ride and handling) will make it yet another benchmark item.

Honda is doing unbelievable stuff. The new Jazz has made all other hatchbacks look 10 years old and will challenge the Swift / i20 big time. Now, the new MPV with its ultra sharp designs will challenge the Ertiga/ Enjoy big time. Maruti has its task cut out in India.

Thats nice, however I agree with tjacob. Though I like the Brio and its attribute, but that didn’t matched up well with Amaze. The Amaze could have shade those Brio face and interior to match up well with Dzire. And so also the MPV.

This is brilliant! Thank god its just now a extension of Brio with a a elongated d pillar and rear. This looks so much cool than the speculated rendition few days back!!!

The rear end and the side profile looks fantastic. But Honda MUST get rid of two things:
    1. The front end resembles Brio, bulky and rounded, especially the bonnet and the headlight, which is not a good thing. It may work well for a small car but looks cheap for an MPV. Honda should go for a more leaner look (like the Jazz and the City) at the front.
    2. Interiors – The dashboard from Brio is a BIG NO. Brio’s dashboard looks cheap and the design/layout is boring and uninspiring to say the least. Honda MUST ensure that the same dashboard is not used for the MPV.

The front looks all new and not Brio’ish. And with this much change to the outside, I bet they would have a redesigned dash inside this!!

Perfectly said. However, I doubt if Honda will make any changes whatsoever if this is the official sketch released.

The new generation Jazz looked stunning, only wish if the MPV had a Jazz like front fascia.
