The Honda Brio MPV is something we have been talking about for quite sometime.

P.T Honda Prospect Motor of Honda Indonesia released the official sketch just hours ago. Honda inform us that this MPV has been specifically designed for the Asian markets. It was handled by the Honda R&D Asia Pacific team in Thailand along with P.T Honda R&D Indonesia.

The three-row, 7 seater will first be introduced in Indonesia's MPV friendly market. It will compete with the likes of the Maruti Ertiga (sold there as the Suzuki Ertiga). For Indonesia, the MPV will be powered by a 1.5-liter petrol engine, which Honda claims will be highly fuel efficient. For India though, expect a petrol in addition to an Earth Dreams Honda diesel engine.

Tomoki Uchida, President Director of P.T. Honda Prospect Motor said -

The new Honda MPV has been developed especially for the needs of customers and road characteristics in Indonesia. This model will also be locally produced in Indonesia as the first product of its new Second Plant in Karawang, scheduled to begin operation in early 2014. This makes the new Honda MPV a very special product for Honda in Indonesia.

The MPV will have its global debut at the Indonesian International Motor Show which is taking place from September 19 in Jakarta. We were told by Honda officials that the MPV will trail the all new Jazz into India, sometime in 2014. Honda India may also show the MPV at the 2014 Auto Expo scheduled for in February.
