The new Jazz has been benchmarked against the VW Polo. Honda’s Senior Ride and Handling Engineer, Terumasa Kotada said  –

In upping our game, we wanted to make a stronger international competitor, so we benchmarked our Fit on the Polo. The moment you get in the Polo, you notice how low you sit in the car. This instills confidence. And then when you drive the Polo, you notice how low its roll center is and its huge stability levels, instilling even more confidence. To get our desired result, I tested the car extensively on the autobahns in Germany.

The Jazz hybrid can do short stints on pure electric mode at speeds up to 40kph.

One suggestion for Honda when bringing this great car, Rear seat thigh support has to be increased. Like the wagon R or etios..
This is one point where Jazz trails.

Wow, this is great. Wonder if they will bring 1.2l petrol for India….have a feeling that they won’t care. It’d be premium hatch, it could be 1.3 or 1.5l only. I am really concerned about the ground clearance, I am sure they’ll jack it up for India.

Hope the Ground clearance aspect for India is not overlooked in the quest for performance, stability and grip.

From the looks of it, I feel the new generation Jazz would become the benchmark for hatchbacks all over the world.

Terumasa Kotada San: Please do not benchmark Polo’s rear seat comfort, Polo’s lack of equipment, Polo’s arrogant German pricing etc!

not only for jazz, honda needs to bring in diesel engines for all models. That done, and they’ll be on top for sure.

But why Polo Mr. Terumasa Kotada, if the likes of Grande Punto, Ford Fiesta hatchback and Swift offers better stability and ride with bit higher sitting?

This is the stunning news for Indians. While praising the design bains at Honda, looking at others, feel really sad for them. Honda knew the heart beats of Indians better than even Maruti and the result was their futuristic designed City launched in 2008. Jazz, with these features and looks, if launched in beginning 2014, can give sleepless nights to other car makers for sure !
