The 2014 Mercedes Benz E Class has just been launched in New Delhi today. The facelifted E Class boasts of a comprehensive update to the exterior and the interior.
The exterior gets a different set of headlights with integrated day-time running lights. At the rear, the taillights get a completely new layout with LED lights. There are some sheet metal changes to the body of the car as well.
Inside, the new E Class has minor updates to the fabrics and the colors used in some places are also different.
Mercedes India will sell the E Class with two engine options - a 2.0-liter petrol engine in E200 guise producing 181bhp of power and 300Nm of torque. It does the 0-100km/h sprint in 7.9 seconds.
Or you can opt for the E250 CDI diesel which is powered by a 2.2-liter engine producing 201bhp of power and 500Nm of torque. 0-100km/h takes only 7.5 seconds in the diesel.
The new E Class had it's global unveiling at the 2013 Detroit Motor Show in January this year.
The prices for the new E Class are as follows:
- E200 CGI Petrol - INR 41.50 lakhs
- E250 CDI Avantgarde Diesel - INR 44.48 lakhs
- E250 CDI Diesel Limited Edition - INR 49.9 lakhs
All prices are ex-Showroom, New Delhi. Note: There are only 100 units of the limited edition E Class on sale.
Mercedes sold 800 units of the E Class in the last quarter and as a result, this is an important model for them. The new E Class competes with the likes of the Audi A6, BMW 5 Series, Jaguar XF and the Volvo S80.
