We’re already past the first six months of 2013 and we haven’t seen a new car launch from Hyundai India yet. While it was previously speculated that the Santa Fe could be Hyundai India’s first 2013 launch, we now hear that the 2014 Hyundai i10 is of key priority for the company. It is rumored that the new i10 could be launched as early as August this year and as a result the Santa Fe’s launch could get re-scheduled to sometime later.

Hyundai sells two versions of the Santa Fe abroad, the five-seater version you see in these pictures and the seven-seater Grand Santa Fe. However, the Grand Santa Fe would not be making it’s way into India anytime soon as it is produced in left-hand drive only.

When it is launched, the new Santa Fe will be competing with the segment leader, the Toyota Fortuner, and with new entrant Ssangyong Rexton apart from SUVs like the Chevrolet Captiva and the Ford Endeavour. The new Honda CR-V is available with a petrol option only and as a result wouldn’t compete with the diesel-only versions of these SUVs.

The new Santa Fe is currently rated as the safest SUV in the world, surpassing the Range Rover in the Euro NCAP ratings!

Was eagerly waiting for this car to come out. But HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED to hear it will be rolled out in a 5 seater option. Anything beyond 20L for a 5 seater Hyundai car will loose its appeal, as AUDI, BMW & Mercedes have options in this range & category. Hope it rolls out the 7 seater option ASAP. Will definately become a market leader as currently no other car in this segment is giving the abovementioned features.

    Dear SOD,
santa fe model is more attaractive and good looking which we can see in gulf countries but in india the price of vehicles is more and not so good looking why there so difference and in india we are paying and spending more cash for fuel and vehicles.my personel advice is all production company should request indian governmet to reduce the tax levied on vehicles and fuel.

    Thank you,

The New Sante Fe looks Awesome & Hyundai generally fills it cars with so many features & Technology.
The Fortuner can look bare naked when compared to the Santa-Fe. It can give the barebones Fortuner a run for money.

    Chhers,

True as the Korean car makers like Hyundai will soon give Toyota and Honda brands a run for their money but probably in a period of 5 to 10 years from now. Toyota still holds a major stake in many countries owing to one major reason “Reliability” Often I have heard of issues arising from other car makers specially transmission and electrical ( from hot climate countries )

      From Toyota till date never.
