Our friends at TheAutomotiveIndia have cracked a big story this afternoon revealing for the first time the variant-wise equipment list for the India-spec Ford EcoSport.

Its been a marathon of updates on the EcoSport since we started posting this morning. We’ve brought you first pictures of the EcoSport media cars from a Goan car yard, presented details on the mega global media drive that kick starts in a few days and now, courtesy of TAI, can publish features and variants of the new iPhone of the Indian auto market.

The Ford EcoSport will launch in four trims, christened with familiar Ford nomenclature – Ambiente, Trend, Titanium and Titanium Optional.

The Ambiente and Trend variants are powered by 1.5-liter petrol or 1.5-liter diesel engines, and can be availed only with a 5-speed manual transmission. The Titanium and Titanium Optional variants can be had with these engine options as well as the 1-liter Ecoboost (turbocharged) petrol engine.

The six-speed automatic transmission is also only available on the two top-end variants, and it comes paired only to the 1.5-liter petrol engine.

Shifting focus now to the variant-wise equipment list –

  1. The Ambient is a bit malnourished, perhaps to start at a rock-bottom price, lacking safety features such as ABS or airbags. It makes do with manual aircon, manual rear windows, but shows some tech-savyness with a Bluetooth audio system having USB and AUX support.
  2. The Trend variant introduces safety features to the EcoSport. Sporting ABS and EBD, but lacking airbags, it gets four powered windows, steering-mounted audio controls, split rear seats and body colored mirrors.
  3. The Titanium variant covers all the bases with dual front airbags, SYNC system, auto AC, 16-inch alloy wheels, chrome fittings and rear parking sensors.
  4. The Titanium Optional variant is fully loaded adding leather seats, push button start, chest level and curtain airbags, and keyless entry to the Titanium variant.

What do you think about the planning of the EcoSport variants? Would you like to see Ford offer anything more or something as standard in the future?

Yes 1.0 L ecoboost engine seem to be getting priced more than 1.5 L because it will produce more power and will be more fuel efficient

    2. 1.5 litre engine is an existing one, on which ford would have recovered most of its R&D expenses.

1 litre engine being new, ford has to recover the money spent in developing it, hence it is more expensive

The 1.5 does not have a turbo, the turbo and intercooler in the 1 liter ecoboot would cost a bit I guess

Looking at the pictures, it appears to be the information from Ford show. The cards have Ford logo etc. at the bottom. However, there is no mention on Ford website nor is there any press release

    I have two doubts..
1- This EcoSport in the first picture doesn’t appear to be India..
    2. Ford has already confirmed that 1.5 Petrol will come only with AT. Whereas your story mentions that it will come with MT as well

    Untrue!

There is lot of confusion on AT version. Logically AT must come in 1.0 L Ecoboost. But from this list it appears that AT will come only in 1.5 L? If one wants the benefits of Ecoboost and needs an AT vehicle what will he do??????

        Hi SUVfan,

There is no confusion on this. The 6-speed dual clutch automatic transmission will be available only on the 1.5-liter petrol. The reason being that this engine with this gearbox is already available on the Fiesta AT and is a proven combination. The EcoBoost will come with a manual for now.

  5. Prashant says:

I doubt that the Titanium and Titanium Optional variants are available in 1.5ltr TDCI (Diesel). If you see the specs sheet i guess it clearly mentions that the Titanium variant comes only in 1ltr Eco Boost & 1.5ltr TiVCT Petrol.

    1. Hi Prashant, the Titanium Optional is Titanium+those features (extra airbags, push button start, etc), check the image again!

According to the Titanium’s photo, Ecoboost and NA engines are both available in both manual gearbox and automatic, right?

    1. No, it says MT next to the 1.0L engine. The AT will be available only on one engine, which is the 1.5L petrol. However the 1.5L petrol will also come with a 5-speed manual transmission.

Does this mean that the Ecoboost engine will only come with the Titanium model?
