Skoda has teased us with a covered car in the backdrop of the start line of Goodwood’s famous hill climb course and has announced that the car will make its global premiere during the Festival Of Speed in the month of July.
Skoda has resorted to a phased launch for the 2013 Skoda Octavia lineup. Firstly the sedan broke cover late last year and the Combi graced the Geneva Motor Show. Now the vRS will be unveiled at the rendezvous of petrolheads.
Coming to the details of the car, its certain that the vRS would don a sharp, aggressive and mean look. There will be aerodynamic body kits, bigger alloy wheels, chunkier tires, stiffened suspension and so on.
The 2.0 litre TSI turbo petrol engine generating 220 PS and 350 Nm is the most likely candidate. The engine would be paired to either a 6-speed manual or DSG. There could also be a 2.0 litre TDI diesel variant which is expected to have a power output of around 180-190 PS.
The Octavia vRs brand has a good fan following in the international markets and the flagship version appears set to do a good job of a brand shaper.
