IAB reader Jishnu mailed us snaps of the mini Xylo this morning that reveals fresh details of the car. The pictures provide a comprehensive look at the product.
From the images and Jishnu’s email, we understand
1) It will be equipped with stop-start button
2) It will be a 5+2 seater. Jump seats fitted to the rear are strictly for children in the family.
3) A 3 pot engine producing 70hp and 160Nm of torque will be strapped to the vehicle
4) There will be no roof-mounted AC like on the normal Xylo
5) The compact Xylo stands on 205/65/R15 tires
6) Seat backs will have aircraft style trays
7) Spare tire will be mounted on the rear door
The tiny quarter glass behind the jump seat will make it look like a grown up Wagon R
In a rendering published in June 2010, Shoeb R Kalania had got the rear dead right
Jishnu points out that the mini Xylo has “enormous” amount of space and is probably more than any C segment sedan. If the compact Xylo could be priced between 5-7 lakh rupees it will make it the ultimate Swift Dzire/Indigo Manza alternative. Mahindra’s strategy of providing more for less could work once again if the mini Xylo does not have an odd ball look.

The mini Xylo is not expected to come immediately, it may take Mahindra until the festival season to launch it

mahindra does not have guts to launch its mini xylo,see maruthi is planning to launch ertiga in two months, that is guts,till now mahindra is not showing the pictures mini xylo.

mini xylo will be the first choice of middleclass indians,if its priced between 4.5-6 lakhs.and also the interiors should be changed or modified compared to xylo.mahindra&mahindra should respond to the reviews and announce,when will it launch mini xylo.
xylo moni is a fabulous vehicle in the segment of disel engine. i waited for the launching of xylo mini. thanks to mahindra who makes the car which is fitted on the middle class budget. thanks to mahindra. we request that you have launched them soonly.

So from when is it going to be available in the showrooms ?
If it is in the range of 5 to 6 lakhs on road, it makes sense, as it will be a diesel vehicle and one needs to spend much on maintenance and lesser resale value compared to petrol cars, whatever the petrol prices may be.
They have still managed to include jump seats at the back just in case u need it, great.
