Today morning we speculated on Hyundai branding the RB as Verna. Hardly few hours later we have solid proof – Autocar India has posted images of the RB caught undisguised by one of its readers at the Chennai factory. We don’t know if Hyundai is infuriated or shocked or both, but the images prove that the Verna branding will pass on to the RB.

new Hyundai Verna India

The new Verna, Autocar India says, will be powered using 1.6 petrol and 1.4 diesel motors. The six-speed manual and AT will be carried over from the i20.

The new Verna will feature dual-tone interiors, automatic climate control, electronically folding side mirrors, parking sensors, bluetooth enabled stereo, steering-mounted audio control, push start and dual airbags. All of these features were present on the Verna an IAB reader spied last month.

The current Verna might not exist once the RB enters production.

@mc – Buddy u r right that 4 speed auto is not gud but am dam sure that Verna and Fiesta r better cars than Vento. Vento has a big hole in its armor. The car lacks space for the clutch foot. Just take a test drive. The foot well is cramped and i dont know why big car magazines miss this small but the most important thing of all if u r the driver. I got a test drive wen i went to service my Jetta and every thing felt nice ride stability but were the heck will i rest my left foot, no dead pedal and no space to the left of the clutch pedal. Even a Santro has a dead pedal. And matter of fact is that am not satisfied with VW customer service.

Well 1.4 diesel and 4 speed auto looks like a bad choice coupled with i10 grill which looks like fish with an opened mouth.I would choose a Vento or New Fiesta over this if it comes with 1.6 diesel and a better auto box

Guys if you need more details just go to this website, its Hyundai’s Russian site where this car was launched as Solaris.

The pictures as Autocar India says is taken inside their factory and which means Hyundai must have knowingly allowed the person to take photos just to get people waiting before they make their decision on the upcoming SX4 diesel.
The car looks superb. It seems that they will use the same 1.4L CRDi in the i20 with a VGT for better performance and it may be a 1.4L petrol from i20 with VTVT and not 1.6L.
I hope they bring at least a 5 speed AT and not the old 4 speed AT.

competition is increasing in Indian automotive sector day by day. The car which is launched just 6 months back start looking old in its category. Every car manufacturer is trying to leapfrog its competitor just in fraction of seconds. Few days back we were admiring Vento, then came the Etios to spoil the party. Its still in its infancy and the unborn New Fiesta is seeing New Verna in its nightmare. Indian car buyer is getting lucky day by day.
