Sources close to Hyundai tell us the company’s busy in preparation for its next big launch after the i20 CRDi, the Avante. The Avante will replace the Elantra (production of this car stopped last year we are told).
Interestingly, the company is also thinking about a diesel option for the Avante. Our source adds a 1.6-liter petrol and diesel engine finds occupation in Hyundai’s newest offering in India. The 1.4-liter petrol engine used on the i20 could also be fitted to the new car.
Hyundai is looking at providing diesel engines for all cars in its line-up. It stated with the Sonata, then the i20 and now the Avante.
Note – The Hyundai i10, the Santro and the small car GB will also get diesel options in the future.

This looks really interesting. The features and functions of the car looks really interesting. The cystomer centric models from Hyundai will help it keep going.

Looking classic,Hyundi are known for its legacy look.
Hyundai are doing a really good job with all of their new cars. This model should rock the market that it runs in.
However, something just feels a bit off on this car – for me, that is. Perhaps I just need more… In a sense?
@Dean – I think its got to do with the C-Pillar or the rear of the car.
I have to choose between this Avante and the Chevy Cruze, wish this one hits the roads soon.

The Avante is a perfect replacement for the Elantra.
I saw this car on last year’s Auto Expo and was very much impressed.
Hope Hyundai doesn’t spoils our excitement by pricing it on higher side.

This is a big news for the Indian auto industry that the Elantra is comming back in a new avtar.
@Piyush – you’re right. I just hope they don’t price it like the i20 diesel and kill hopes. They need to price it well and bring out its uniqueness.
Hope they get a powerful diesel engine on this one.

The Elantra was a good car, Hyundai goofed up big time with its marketing. Hope they get it right this time.
Looks like a nice move by Hyundai, they should have got this one here much earlier.hope it does well.
@Naeem Khan – They had shown this at the Auto Expo last year, and I think the feasibility study has come to an end. Hopefully by the 2010 Auto Expo it’ll be out.
