Bajaj’s low cost car with partners Renualt is taking new turns, reports Economic Times. The car according to earlier reports is designed by Renault, will be further delayed due to recent resolutions passed by Rajiv Bajaj, Managing Director Bajaj Auto.

Mr.Rajiv Bajaj has asked the project’s team to go back to the drawing board, a decision that will cost them a year’s time. Financial conditions at Renault’s end isn’t all that bright which adds to the woes. A year’s time had been spent in getting the basic plan charted out, which is flushed down the toilet, after this report.

Bajaj will be incharge of power train, platform development and supply lines while partner Renault will come up with a suitable design as per the initial agreement. Conflicts might have occured due to a clash of ideas. Carlos Ghosn, head of Renault wanted to compete with a car that was on par with the Tata Nano’s price, while Bajaj wanted to make a car that was more value for money.

What does this mean?

Bajaj is the top news in the Business columns of many dailies and asks you not to expect the car till 2012.

Hi all my name Gigel from Romania, Logan ditch owner of a diesel car. I believe that this new model will become Dacia City in Europe although all European media specialists make us believe that Dacia will be a model city will use Many of the songs from the Logan Sandero current or duster. This car I like and I think even the more fashionable look that Hyundai i10 is much closer to Romanian tastes related to small cars that began appearing with the first models of Daewoo Matiz made in romania many years ago at Daewoo Craiova plant

First of all, thanks to the auto enthuasists of IAB for bringing in latest informations of the automobile market all over the world.I m also a petrol head like you guys and while sitting in my room in Osaka, Japan, searching for some news on Bajaj’s ULC,landed to this space totally accidentally a bit ago.
Regarding Bajaj`s ULC,I have doubts that Renault will do the design development work with 100% of it’s potential in the current scenario. As you all know, Renault is badly hit by the recent slowdown in market, so they are trying to freeze theire projects in India and some other countries. The financial condition of French car maker seems very grave and there are news that they are trying to run out of Nissan-Renault-Mahindra’s Chennai joint venture.Recent move of shuffling of top management of Renault in India corrobrates the fact that Renault was not happy with former management, which was finding it difficult to explain their condition and HQ’s stand on Chennai project to their partners.
Bajaj,in first quarter, will be more focussed on its KTM bikes which they are targetting to send to dealers by June. But, after observing their progress on KTM I think it will be difficult for them to meet this deadline. We can not see KTM bikes before Aug.
Now, after taking a quick overview of management and financial situation of Bajaj and Renault, its obvious that for Bajajs to realise their dream of producing low cost car is still far away.
