Hero Honda to launch seven new bikes in India

Hero Honda is all geared up to launch no less than 7 two-wheelers this festive season (including a New CBZ variant). The only other bike manufacturer with such ambitions is Yamaha, which has a launch pipeline already working in full throttle!

Instead of an official launch, the new bikes will be showcased at the company’s dealers. Hero Honda says that the bike sales are shifting back to economy bikes rather than performance bikes from rival companies; and, with oil prices going though the roof bikes are seen to be an economical alternative to cars. The new models will be in the 100 to 125 cc category. The dealers say, more offers will be made available in order to achieve the set 6 lakh units sales target.

This year happens to be the Hero Honda’s Silver Jubilee Year, hence the company aims to sell a record 6-lakh two-wheelers this year (Highest ever sold by the company). By setting this sales target the company, hopes to convey to its competition that Hero Honda will be the market leader year after year despite the rising inflation, higher interest rates and a slowdown in the economy.

Pawan Munjal, Managing Director, Hero Honda Motors, said “The company has increased production and would stock its 3,000 dealerships and sales touch points with maximum inventory and is planning to sell each and every bike dispatched by the company”.

IAB Comment- Wow! This is what you call ‘volume game.’ Incidentally, Yamaha Motor’s sales target is a modest 5 lakh units for the whole of 2009 :D We know what Hero Honda mean by ‘new models.’ A sticker here and a new headlight there, and there you have it- Another new model from Hero Honda. We’re hoping that it won’t be the same case this time.

well hero honda is my favourate brand of bikes
and i have hero honda cbz and i am really happy with it.
if you are launching new bikes why dont you go for international looks like front fairing (head lamps as of yamaha yzf 15) and mono shock as of honda unicorn. and a nicely shaped 150 cc bike , if i say nicely shaped i dont mean small tyres like yamaha it should be good enough to look like karizma , a decent modern sports look bike.
i bet you if you get a bike like that it will sell like a piece of cake under your trusted name for years.

i my self am anxciously waiting for such a bike from indias own manufacturer who is so much trrsted over so many years.
if you launch such a bike i will be the first one to buy it i promise

    Hi,
I bought a splendor in 2003,and im very much happy to ride that bike. But the recent edition of splendor+ spoiled all our dreams, such as light weight and stickering n so on..If you relaunch ur old splendor model with same weight and aesthetics. You will be the no-1 in the world.Since lakhs of people are ready to buy your old splendor model,Bcoz No other bike in india can compete with that look and style, mileage, life, engine, etc….,

    Hey raj!

I think you are right. HH should try and do something about their bikes' styling. They must offer something like a mini-Karizma in the 150 cc category.

Hero Honda has only one new model ie the HUNK, the rest are upgraded versions and they are wrongly mentioned as new models. I dont know how long will HeroHonda stick to this segment without any performance bikes, maybe Honda has disagreed with the company's superbike launch. Hero is a big zero without Honda I think, else they would have proved it.

@Subhranshu Sahoo- I think the proven motorcycle is the Hero Honda Splendor. You can also have a look at the CD Dawn and come to a conclusion. You need to test ride the bikes and go by your instincts.
