General Motors cars have always been one of the poor sellers in India from the day of its launch. GM India on Friday Reported 25 per cent increase in July sales at 5,706 units against 4,570 units during the same month last year. The company further added that the july 2008 sales comprised 3,570 units of the Chevrolet Spark, 921 units of the Chevrolet Tavera, 501 units of the Chevrolet Aveo, 344 units of the Chevrolet Optra, and 370 units of the Chevrolet Captiva.

The company said the heave in the sales figures is mainly dominated by the little Chevrolet Spark which is considered to be a value for money small car with a lot of special and attractive packages offered by the General motors.

GM India Vice-President P Balendran said “Despite a sluggish market, our positive monthly sales figure is a clear indication of the success of our carlines. Chevrolet Spark has made serious inroads in the Indian small car segment”.

He further added that the increasing demand brand of vehicles, the company is on a row to expand its sales and service network by 190 units before this year end.

Thanks Matt for your wishes. The earlier version Daewoo Matiz had a very good welcome in India. So the same trend is continuing with the Spark and GM are tempting people to buy spark by offering a lot of attractive packages.

Good to see that the Chevrolet Spark is starting to sell well in India. We need this kind of car in the US too. Best wishes with your new blog too. Now I know where to go for all things Tata and Mahindra!
