The third-gen VW Touareg may be brought to India with only a 3.0L TDI V6 diesel engine.

The third-generation VW Touareg made its world premiere in Beijing last year. It features a very elegant and premium design which is inspired from the VW T-Prime Concept GTE that was showcased at Auto China 2016. The highlight of its design is its front grille which seamlessly weaves into the continuous lines of the IQ.Light - LED matrix headlights that comprise 128 individually activated LEDs each. A similar 'LED Matrix Light' technology is also seen on the latest Skoda Superb and VW Passat. The lower front bumper features a chrome bar which stretches across the front width.

At the sides, the VW Touareg features prominent wheel arches, muscular shoulder line and 21-inch wheels which adds to its tough character. While the rear houses sleek tail lights with L-shaped light signature. At the rear, the SUV has wide-spaced ‘Touareg’ lettering and dual chrome tailpipes.

The VW Touareg comes with a 3.0L TDI V6 engine which is available in two configurations: 170 kW (231 PS)/500Nm and 210 kW (286 PS)/600Nm, as well as a 3.0-litre TSI V6 petrol engine (340 PS/450 Nm). An 8-speed automatic gearbox is standard. There is also a new 276 kW (367 PS) plug-in hybrid system option.

At the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, Volkswagen introduced a new 4.0-litre TDI V8 diesel engine option for the Touareg. This engine is capable of delivering 310 kW (421 PS) and 900 Nm of torque. This V8 model is rated to do 0 to 100 km/h sprint in just 4.9 seconds. Its top speed is limited to 250 km/h.
