Mahindra’s much awaited XYLO was unveiled a couple of weeks back (we were at the Special launch, in case you didn’t know) and until today we hadn’t heard anything from Mahindra, though a few friends from Mumbai told me the XYLO sales was picking up rapid pace.

With the XYLO, Indian Auto Giant Mahindra intends to put an end to the era of Sedans. To carry out this ambitious operation, Mahindra has designed and developed an MPV, which is as Indian as hot Curry. Mahindra has a renowned history for manufacturing big-sized vehicles. Take either the stylish Scorpio, the rugged Bolero or the latest XYLO, it has stuck to it’s reputation of offering buyers with Utilitarian vehicles which are big on size and easy on the wallet.

I was invited by the company along with India’s top Auto journalists to a special preview of the XYLO at Mahindra’s production facility at Nasik. The build-up to the launch was something along the lines of a star-studded Hollywood movie preview.

Mahindra to take Hybrid and Electric route

Mahindra & Mahindra, which recently unveiled its much awaited Xylo MUV at an attractive price tag of Rs.6,24,500 is set to raise many eyebrows in the coming years.

Fuel Efficiency continues to be Mahindra’s focus as an official announcement by the company reveals its electric and hybrid plans.

Spied- 2009 Tata Indicruz MPV

Minutes ago, Global Motors posted spy pictures of the 2009 Tata Indicruz testing in cold weather in Sweden. It is partly camouflaged, and a head on photograph brings out the design elements of the car

The raised hood line is in conjunction with European Pedestrian safety standards. The grille is attached to the hood (similar to the Mercedes E-Class) and the whole front end has a lot in common with the Indica Vista like the fog lamps, headlights and the form of the hood and the rear-view mirrors. If you look closely at the 3rd images, a crease bisecting the hood is evident, just like in the Indica Vista.

The wheels seems to have come off the Tata Safari and the wheel-wells are an eye sore- A typical Tata vehicle trait. The size of this car should be close to the Toyota Innova’s and the price should be a couple of lakhs lesser than it. On the whole, people will assess it’s looks better than the XYLO.

Indian car manufacturer, Mahindra and Mahindra (M&M) is finally going to launch its all new MPV (Multi Purpose Vehicle) XYLO in India on 13th January 2009. The car was due in December 2008 but due to recent Mumbai terror attacks M&M had also delayed the launch date.

Mahindra XYLO will hit showrooms by the 13th of this month, and you can book one from the 14th onwards.

One of our Indian Autos Blog readers emailed us an image of what he thinks is the soon to debut Mahindra XYLO. The image is low-resolutionbut the signature Mahindra grille and emblem with a new and unseen headlight and bumper design confirms that this is after all the XYLO.

Look closely at the number plate, you can view the letters I and O, and the word “project” just above it. What this could be is “Project Ingenio” indicating the picture must have been taken before the XYLO name was christened to this vehicle.

From what we can see, Mahindra have pinned the fit and finish aspect. The bonnet line looks neat and the headlamp design head-on is similar to the Tata Sumo Victa. The portion of the bumper where the fog lamp sits, is fitted with plastic conveying this is a base model. The brown color adds appeal which both the Scorpio and the Bolero are offered with.

Mahindra may enter China very soon

As Mahindra & Mahindra(M&M) vehicles – Scorpio and Xylo prepare to enter the American market, the company is aiming to step into China also, which is the world’s second largest automobile market after the US and is three times bigger than the Indian auto market with sales of about 9 million units annually.
