Sources have told IndianAutosBlog.com that Volkswagen replaces the Touareg with the latest generation model during the Auto Expo. The second generation Touareg makes it to India almost two years after it was first shown. IAB readers have been served with spyshots of this model during its testing program in Pune. Many asked why Volkswagen did not bother removing the V6 TDI badge from the mules.

In late June, we told you that the new Touareg is unlikely to come in the petrol-hybrid guise and the BlueMotion tag could be adopted on the diesel variant. The latest update we have received is that the new Touareg could be priced just below 42 lakh rupees. Current ex-showroom price of Touareg is over 50 lakh rupees.
The Volkswagen Touareg is a massive SUV that shares components with the Audi Q7 and the Porsche Cayenne. It’s among the unsung heroes in the SUV market and has sold in very limited numbers despite bearing all qualities of a capable SUV.
Volkswagen has the liberty to import the new Touareg with a V6 petrol, V8 petrol and the V8 diesel engine though it is unclear which ones will make the cut.

Volkswagen has just three models to display in its Indian showrooms and among them is the Touareg. Indians just get a 6 cylinder 3.0-liter 225bhp oil burner with the options provided in countries abroad not available to us.
VW will offer the next generation of the Touareg with a gasoline hybrid version. First prototypes are already undergoing testing at various locales.
