Tata Manza variant nomenclature shakedown soon

Tata Motors will soon drop the Aqua, Aura and Elan names from the Indigo Manza brand sources familiar to the matter have told IndianAutosBlog.com.

Instead of these suffixes, Tata Motors will adopt the same nomenclature as the new Indica Vista – LS, LX, VX and ZX for diesel, and GLS, GLX, GVX and GZX for petrol variants on the Manza. The Manza is available in four variants on each engine option, so the LX could substitute Aqua.

A recent market study conducted has shown that there is confusion in the minds of the customer due to the vast ocean of variants in the Tata portfolio. Since the original Indica continues to receive upgrades and exist in the portfolio, the confusion grows bigger.

Maruti Suzuki has taken the common nomenclature route and ZDI is the top-end model across brands in the same segment. Tata Motors will look to recreate the same effect and uniformity.

The source adds that gradually, the export market models will also gain the new variants and the recent cosmetic operation carried out on the Vista.

Like on the new Vista, the font size of Indigo could be further minimized and eventually cease to exist on brochures and marketing material.

Tata Indigo Manza front rear - 4

This looks much better than the first generation Tata Indigo, and way better in visual appeal than any of the other Tatas currently on the road. The Indigo Manza was caught undisguised by our friends at Motoroids. On first glance, this looks like the Dzire eater we were all waiting for. The boot is attached to the body in a more cohesive manner and the usage of chrome on the front slabs was deliberately to mimic the Dzire’s way of saying “I’m the sedan, not the hatchback.”

I think. Easy to identify. That’s becoming the industry standard.

The curve on the base of the tail light is reminiscent of the blockbuster Indigo CS. The extension of the light’s upper portion towards the C-Pillar is closely aligned to the Tata Elegant concept shown a few years ago. The moderate usage of chrome is surprising, on how many places do you find chrome on a regular Tata? This is certainly the way we all want a Tata to be – rich, cohesive and the road presence a passenger car and not a commercial vehicle.

From the image – the boot looks enormous, but note, it does not look like an Indica Vista developed a tumor.

Tata Indigo Manza teaser website live

On my list of things to do this year, lazing on the backseat of a Rolls Royce Phantom is definitely left unchecked. But relaxing in the rear seat of the Manza? You got to be kidding me. Not really.

The teaser website of the Tata Indigo Manza is up and running. From the image, we understand there will be a MID on the dashboard that will inform the driver about the vehicle along with a host of other information, very similar to the Mahindra Xylo’s DDAS. This module is also expected on the Indicruz which is Tata’s next launch.

The Tata Indigo Manza will be launched in Mumbai on the 14th of this month. The Manza to the naked eye, is an Indica Vista with a bulky boot.

Interiors of the Manza will largely be the same except for the dashboard. Driver side dials and meters will feature instead of the Indica Vista style centrally mounted cluster. Tata will also use Fiat’ Blue&Me bluetooth technology on this sedan.

Tata will offer one petrol and one diesel engine – the Safire petrol and Multijet diesel, both lifted from Fiat’s closet. The 1.4 petrol will develop 95PS, while the 1.3 liter multijet is listed at 90PS.
