Video – New Suzuki Swift

The new Suzuki Swift has arrived and within the next few months, Maruti Suzuki will start selling it. There aren’t going to be any changes under the hood of the new Swift, but literally everything else has changed, gotten bigger, evolved and evened out.

In the making is a new Suzuki Swift sedan, which could be the ideal car for Maruti, say between the new Swift and the SX4. But for now, enjoy these motion shots of the new Swift that isn’t very far away from a Maruti Suzuki dealership.

Chinese market to receive facelifted Suzuki Swift

The Swift has been a big hit for Suzuki Motor Corporation (SMC) all over the world. With a load of attitude and flair it has attracted a lot of buyers even in China, where it is about to receive a facelift with key cosmetic changes.

The facelifted Chinese Swift (pictured) gets a radiator grille with a wider opening, a new bumper with wider air intakes and new rounded fog lamps. The sides of the car have been embellished with side skirts to enhance the sporty looks of the car. At the rear, there is a new bumper with a diffuser sort of integrated into it along with mud flaps. This looks of the new vehicle is right in the middle of the existing Swift and the next generation Swift.

Shouldn’t this have been Maruti’s Swift when the car went through a subtle change a couple of year’s back? The refreshed Swift in India only had a different tail lamp and the rest of the car was untouched.

Suzuki_Swift_Limited 25- 2The new Suzuki Swift with a 1.2-liter K-Series engine offers better torque and fuel efficiency

In the wake of stringent emission norms that come into effect from April 2010, Maruti Suzuki, Autocar reports has unleashed the 1.2-liter Swift. This is the same engine that powers the Maruti Suzuki Ritz.

The new engine outputs 84bhp and 11.5kgm of max torque and is coupled to an improved gearbox. The outgoing 1.3-liter powerplant produced 87bhp and 11.3kgm torque.

The K-Series engine is better refined and the company claims it has a fuel efficiency of 17.9kpl, a 2kpl improvement over the previous model. As this claim belongs to Suzuki, it needs verification.

Maruti Suzuki will not hike the price of the Swift. It however will marginally increase prices of some other models.

2011 Suzuki Swift caught testing again

Set to make its debut at the Paris Motor Show in 2010, Suzuki Swift’s successor will have big shoes to fill. A new set of spy images has surfaced from which instantaneously make out the retention of Swift’s unique design.

The whole car seems to have grown bigger and with a longer rounded hood. Obviously, the new Swift will be offering front wheel drive. We hear that there will be a choice of petrol engines, producing between 90 and 130 bhp of power.

Fiat’s new generation of Multijet diesel engines will take care of the propulsion and a hybrid variant is also expected in 2011. Prices will be announced after the car’s launch, but will most likely be marginally higher than the current version. Customers of the Swift are quick to complain of its lack of interior space.

Suzuki has to tackle the hybrid component storage smartly if they have to continue marketing the Swift as a family hatchback.

Suzuki Swift being a proper hot hatch with its mini-like looks has bowled over millions of Indians. It has been the younger generation’s toy to play with as for as modification of cars in India is concerned. This is apart from the older Honda City, Mitsubishi Lancer and Skoda Octavia.

The 87 horses of the Swift was enough for the Indian customers to break speed limits, but the new Japanese cousin has so many, you could reach speeds that could end you up in jail.
