Is this the Fiat Palio successor?

The Fiat Palio has been around for 12 years and Fiat, as per several reports, is testing and harmonizing the successor. Noticiasautomotivas.com.br has issued a post with a photograph of the upcoming Palio. Well, not exactly, but the site conceives this could be the car which will be the substitute in the following 2 years under a 1990′s Fiat brand, Innocenti.

2010 Fiat Palio launched abroad- IAB Comprehensive Review

There are talks about a facelifted Fiat Palio in India by the end of next year and this is the car which will do the job of reviving Palio sales in the country, if not anything else. It’s a refreshed Palio, with a lot of changes both on the inside and the outside. If Fiat has to capitalize the attention they have grabbed with the Linea or the Grande Punto, they have to introduce this model in India before it is too late.

It is a well-known fact that massive discounts are offered on both the petrol and diesel version (the diesel version isn’t very old, remember) and the 2010 Fiat Palio could change it all as it would be an all-in-all new car. We’re also offering a word of advise for Fiat at the end of this article.

Petrol Heads in India love the Fiat brand. I’m able to see the love Indians have for Fiats. The point is, they can’t do anything about it. The Fiat Palio Stile 1.1 had been launched here in 2007, with hopes that it could bring back the glory days of Fiat and Palio’s hatchback dominance. But unfortunately for Fiat, it had been an instantaneous failure, obviously due to a recipe failure-Great looks, solid comfort, reasonable price, but a catastrophically impotent 1.1L petrol engine. IAB thinks that the Fiat Palio Stile(petrol) seriously needs an engine makeover. Read on!

Autocar UK has published a post giving more information on Fiat’s low cost brand for developing countries like ours.

The website says the low cost car will come with a “super frugal 2-cylinder engine” but nothing about the displacement or power is mentioned. Now, could this possibly be the same engine that is used on the Tata Nano ? We earlier heard that there could be a possible hand in this venture from Tata Motors.

More Information surfaces on Fiat’s low cost brand

As we reported earlier, Fiat is planning on introducing a string of low-cost cars for Western Europe to cater to the budget-conscious car buyers.

Reports suggest that a total of 3 models are being worked on, out of which 2 will be developed by Fiat’s Brazilian subsidiary. The vehicles will use the Fiat Palio and Uno platforms.

Fiat Punto T-Jet- A Grande Punto with 152bhp

The Fiat Punto Turbo T-Jet is Fiat’s take on the hot-hatch segment. Filmed testing in the roads of Brazil, the T-Jet will be formally presented to the public at the National Automobile Chamber of St. Paul which is scheduled to take place on the 30th of October in Brazil. This is the most jaunty interpretation of the Punto, which has the Italian 1.4 16V engine equipped with a turbo IHI  [ Read More ]

Based on the same platform as the on going Fiat Palio, the Strada pickup truck won’t find numerous buyers in India. If in case, this vehicle is brought over here, it could perhaps at most be positioned as a lifestyle product. However, let’s look at the bigger picture. If Fiat were to ever give the aging Palio a cosmetic surgery, they could use identical styling as carried out on the  [ Read More ]
