Kawasaki Ninja 250R Up CLoseA late entry, but at least we get the Fuel Injected version with 33 PS

Bajaj Auto has finally introduced the baby Ninja, the 250cc twin cylinder sports motorcycle to the roads of India. Many will agree that the entry is late, but better late than never, we say.

India also gets the more advanced Fuel Injected version as opposed to a carbureted one which sells in some other parts of the world. Present on the launch today were the MD Mr Rajiv Bajaj and Mr Eric Vaz President (New Projects) who were visibly thrilled to showcase such a product to the performance bike-starved Indian customers.

The Ninja is priced at Rs 2,69,970 Ex Showroom Delhi. After the frugal Discover, Bajaj now has got into the the performance mode and the Ninja stands as its flagship model which was earlier held by the Pulsar 220. The KTMs are also coming in three month’ time and they should prove even more interesting.

BEST 250cc MOTORCYLCE IN THE WORLD

Mumbai 7th October 2009: Bajaj Auto, today announced the launch of the much awaited Kawasaki Ninja 250R in India. It is widely acknowledged as the best 250 cc motorcycle in the world. In India it will be available exclusively through Bajaj Probiking showrooms.

Powered by a 249cc parallel twin engine that belts out 33PS of power, it is a true supersport motorcycle that draws its lineage from the legendary larger Kawasaki Ninjas. But what makes this motorcycle unique is its near-perfect combination of performance, riding comfort and ease of handling. As a result it is as popular among casual riders as it among serious enthusiasts. Not surprisingly it is the LARGEST SELLING 250 cc motorcycle in the world.

In India, in a market cluttered with overpowered litre class motorcycles, the Kawasaki Ninja 250R will be the ONLY supersport motorcycle whose performance is practical for Indian conditions. And with a price tag of less than Rs. 3 lacs, it is well within reach of those seeking a supersport motorcycle.

The cat is out of the bag. The hotly anticipated Kawasaki Ninja 250R will be launched in Pune on the 5th of next month marking the second approach of Kawasaki into India.

Bajaj, after going through a rough patch, recovered strongly after its Discover motorcycle surpassed milestones and in turn it bettered its overall sales compared to the previous year. As per our friends in the motorcycle circle, the new Ninja is arguably the most anticipated bike. Thousands of them are waiting to get on its saddle and take it for a spin.

What this means is the numbers are only going to read better.

Another ray of hope for true bike lovers in India, one of the most awaited bikes, the Kawasaki Ninja 250R, was on display at Bajaj’s pro biking showroom at Pune recently. This means the wait for this monster is about to come to an end and a confirmation would be out in the near future.

The bike was parked at the showroom only for a limited period and it was only for Bajaj and Kawasaki officials to see the amount of space the bike would take and also to decide the ways and means to display to the customers. Like banners nearby or on raised platform, decorations, so on and so forth.

The bike will brought in as completely knocked down units and assembled here at Bajaj’s plant. This bike has two versions, carbureted and fuel injected. In India we will get the FI version which is the similar to the one sold in Europe.

The Ninja develops 33ps of power at 10,500 rpm and a torque of 22Nm at 9500 rpm. It has 6-speed gear box and a top speed of around 160 kmph. The bike will be available in two colors which are black and the trademark green.

The only noticeable change so far is the front number plate and the exhaust. The bike has an analog console which is a little bit of a disappointment to me. Although not confirmed, the bike is expected to cost somewhere between 2 to 2.5 lakh.

Has the little Ninja finally made it to India? I think so.

The Kawasaki Ninja 250R was snapped when on display at a Bajaj Probiking showroom in Pune. In the recent past, Bajaj had displayed the unreleased Pulsar variants in a similar manner, to collect feedback from its customers.
