Jaguar has confirmed that it will be adding two new engines to its line-up, a 3.0 liter supercharged V6 petrol engine and a 2.0 liter four-cylinder turbo petrols from next year.
The 3.0 liter is an all-aluminum V6 is derived from Jaguar’s 5.0-liter V8 and it features quad cams, direct injection and a Roots-type twin vortex supercharger with a water-cooled intercooler. The engine will be available in two different variants one producing 375bhp and the other producing 355bhp.

In a surprising move, Jaguar’s global brand director Adrian Hallmark has informed CAR & DRIVER that it plans to ditch its rear wheeled drive philosophy and adopted all wheel drive on majority of its models in the next 3 years. The last all wheeled drive Jaguar was the X type which was not really a bespoke Jag because it was based on the Ford Mondeo platform.

This surprising move is because Jaguar is continuously losing its market share to the Germans in its prime market – USA. In order to stay afloat, the leaping cat needs to change its core philosophy and change with times.
The Jaguar XF (5 Series competitor) and XJ (S-Class rival) will the first ones to adopted the AWD architecture and the time frame given is the next 3 years. Converting a rear wheeled drive car into al all wheeled drive one is very expensive and almost cost prohibiting. But Jaguar is ready to dump its funds and take the risk. The XK will not be touched for now.
The XJ is doing well internationally against the other vehicles in the segment, but there is still a lot of room for improvement. The XF hasn’t done well since its 2008 launch in the international markets. The addition of all-wheel drive should help boost sales numbers and improve ratios against brands like Mercedes, VW and Audi.
The Jaguar XJ (a.k.a The Big Cat) and XF are all set to receive a brand new V6 by 2014. The rising fuel prices have certainly affected the luxury car market as well. Most manufacturers have started offering an entry level V6 for the less spirited chauffeurs
The engine will be used across all global markets, replacing the Ford-based 3.0L V6. The expected power will be around 300 bhp and Jaguar is targeting 11.9 kmpl.
It makes sense to have an entry level petrol model with less focus on performance and more on fuel efficiency. And for those who want to do a bit of spirited driving can opt for engines with larger amount of power at a higher price point.
This is the first picture of the 2012 Jaguar XF, leaked to the web by Joke For Blog. The car was supposed to be seen for the first time at the 2011 New York Auto Show.
Joining the new hood are the revised front fascia and a new head lamp which seems like a subtle variation of the larger XJ sedan.
The rear of the car will sport reworked tail lamps and bumper. The design is far from flowing, but it takes it closer to the XJ which isn’t a bad thing.
Mechanicals will remain untouched expect for the addition of a new 2.2-liter four-cylinder diesel that develops 190 PS and 450 Nm of torque. The diesel engine is no slouch as it gets the XF to 100kph from standstill in 8.5 seconds and enables it to reach a top speed of 225 km/h.

Tata-owned Jaguar has sold more than 25,000 units of the Jaguar XF in the United Kingdom alone. The Jaguar XF replaced the S-Type in March 2008 and has been selling extremely well since then.
To celebrate this milestone, Jaguar is introducing an innovative promotion called the ‘XF SMS Competition’. Participants would have to answer questions through SMSs. The proceeds from the promotion would be going to the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC).
The winner of the SMS competition gets to drive away a brand new, 3.0 liter diesel XF worth 38,000 pounds (27,00,000 Indian Rupees). The contest is open only for British residents and is open till January 31, 2011. The winner would be announced on February 7, 2011.
What we find interesting with this news is that, a Tata owned company is kicking of such an innovative campaign to boost its image and reach. Jaguar is looking for new customer to the brand through such promotions and thankfully Tata has not enforced its ‘special discounts’ marketing strategy to boost sales on Jaguar.
UK’s popular monthly magazine What Diesel Car has announced its winners this year in the annual awards ceremony. The Ford Fiesta wins What Diesel Car of the Year 2009. The winner should not be confused with the Fiesta that’s sold in India. This is a totally different car and is a hatchback. Its sedan version will be the next-generation Fiesta in India hopefully in 2010.
